9-aastase Sol-i suvi maal muudab teda alatiseks.

When You Least Expect It

Play Video

There are two people who wake up in the same bed one morning, and neither of them has a clue who the other is. Viivi would like to run away and the man is sleeping like a log. Unlike Viivi and Andu themselves, the viewers know both very well. They know that Viivi has the worst day in her life and that Andu is a dweeb, but not completely hopeless; a rather good-hearted man.

They are both hopelessly lonely people hoping that maybe there’s someone somewhere… So they might as well meet.

Ghost Mountaineer

Play Video

GHOST MOUNTAINEER is a feature film with some hints of horror, based on actual events in Siberia back in Soviet times. A group of Estonian students on a winter hiking trip suddenly find themselves in the middle of bloodcurdling events in a Buryatian village.

Olle, a closed off group leader disappointed in his mates, disappears in the mountains in the last day of the trip. Open-minded and adventurous Eero and the rest of the hikers are facing a situation they at first do not want to, but later can not solve. But no one is prepared for devastation seemingly conducted by the vanished group leader Olle.

In strange country and amidst strange people, the group will soon find out that past actions and vengeance do not know the thin line between life and death.

Demons

Play Video

Every game has its flaws, but they are not always as risky as this one. When Joko, Ants and Reeda enter a casino, they can’t possibly be aware of the very existence of the demons inside them. Soon enough, they will understand that their lives are caught in a fatal vortex.

Directed by Ain Mäeots, Demons is a heart-stopping drama about the danger of gambling. In the movie, Joko, Ants and Reeda have nothing in common but their streak of luck in a night at a casino. As they see their success continues, their greed leads them to discover the darkest corners of their souls, and their very lives will be in danger.

Told from three different perspectives and based on actual events, Demons is the tale of how lies and addiction can create a hellish environment for addicts and their families. The stories are brutally honest, often painful, but also humorous at times.

By using a gripping multi-layered narrative, director Ain Mäeots flawlessly presents the three protagonists’ lives, without too much effort for the viewers, even though the characters inhabit different time frames. Such an entertaining and well-told story made Demons an award-winning movie at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival 2012 and a blockbuster at home.

The Poll Diaries

Play Video

In the summer of 1914, thirteen-year-old Oda von Siering (Paula Beer) leaves Berlin to join her family and an assortment of German and Russian aristocrats on an estate in Estonia. The von Siering family home is a character in its own right, a hulking, neoclassical manor that hovers on stilts above the sea. Oda arrives there bearing her mother’s coffin and a gift requested by her surgeon father: a jarred, two-headed fetus to add to his laboratory of gruesome curiosities. Ebbo von Siering (Edgar Selge) sees himself in his daughter when she calmly and expertly learns to suture the corpse of a cat. What he fails to recognize – and what Oda luckily understands – is that their interest in science is their only similarity. His dedication to experimentation is linked to an appalling obsession with power and destruction, while Oda is genuinely curious about life. Her quick, quiet intelligence complements her humanity and her lucid understanding of right and wrong. When she strays from a family picnic and discovers a badly wounded Estonian anarchist, she helps him without a second thought, smuggling him into her father’s lab and putting her new surgical skills to good use. As their illicit friendship deepens, family turmoil escalates and war closes in. The safe haven of the community collapses, forcing Oda’s family to make impossible choices.
